The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association says four of its members have succumbed to COVID-19 this year, 2021.
The President of the Nurses and Midwifery Association (Perpetual Ofori Ampofo) said the failure to adhere to safety protocols at the various health facilities has resulted in many health practitioners contracting the virus.
She asked the government to provide more Personal Protective Equipment to save frontline health workers. She explained a total number of 840 have been infected with many still battling for their lives.
“The death toll now stands at four with the recent demise of Mr Solomon Nsor, a senior staff nurse who worked at War Memorial Hospital in the Kasena Nankana Municipality of Upper East Region,” the group said in a statement.
Ghana’s Covid-19 cases stands at 2,174 Active cases.
