The Nigeria movie industry has lost another veteran actor, Mr Ernest Asuzu as recent day when Mr Dan Kalougu passed away. The actor died on Tuesday evening, January 26.
According to reports, Mr Asuzu went shirtless whiles begging from shoppers to make ends meet on the streets of Lagos went viral on social media, which got people to wonder whether Mr Asuzu was in his rightful state.
When the news surfaced online, some colleagues in the movie industry including the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano rallied round to support him
The actor reportedly fainted on Tuesday evening and never woke up. His body is currently being conveyed to his hometown for burial.
Mr Asuzu’s wife was said to have called fellow actor Desmond Elliot to announce the death to him.
The actor, who starred alongside Jim Iyke, in some Nollywood movies, said he went shirtless not because he was mentally derailed, but because he needed help for his medical condition. In a new video clip, Asuzu said he deliberately removed his shirt so that Nollywood practitioners would feel his pain.
He also asked for financial assistance from well-meaning Nigerians to enable him to take care of his medical bills.
