Madam Okonjo-Iweala, Wins Appointment As WTO DG

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a Nigerian economist and international development expert. She sits on the boards of Standard Chartered Bank, Twitter, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, and the African Risk Capacity. On 15 February 2021, she was appointed as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

Her term officially starts on Monday, March 1, 2021. Okonjo-Iweala is the first woman and the first African to head the international organisation.
