“No one has bought Earl Simmons masters,” the family stated on Monday. “Additionally, we are not selling any merch or raising money for his funeral services.”

The family of late rapper-actor DMX is clarifying rumors that Jay-Z and his wife, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, purchased the magnetic MC’s master recordings and gifted them to his children.

The misinformation that has swirled since DMX died includes the story that superstar moguls Jay-Z and Beyoncé are buying his masters for $10 million.

It’s not surprising, given that even the event of his death was rumored to have happened hours before it actually did. DMX’s family includes his mother, Arnett Simmons, his siblings and 15 children.

The family went on indicating that;

 “If anyone is requesting for money for his funeral please be aware the person is a scammer. We will keep the public posted on funeral/memorial service arrangements.”

A master recording is the official original recording of a song, sound or performance. Also referred to as “masters,” it is the source from which all the futures copies are made.

His family and friends organized a prayer vigil on April 5 outside of White Plains Hospital, where X remained on life support before he died. Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano told TMZ that he would be willing to offer Yonkers Raceway, the city’s largest outdoor venue, for his family to host a public hometown memorial.
